One of the greatest obstacles to delivering a low-energy and sustainable built environment is ensuring that buildings perform as expected in reality and not simply in design, particularly as we all use our buildings differently.
At Knauf Insulation, we are developing an understanding of what is happening at the building level and why. In order to revolutionise the understanding of how buildings perform we are.
TESTING BUILDINGS
As a result of years of intensive studies, the company is now at the cutting edge of research into building energy efficiency and insulation covering everything from assessment and installation to detailed monitoring and data analysis. We work with leading Universities and institutes on Building Physics to better understand buildings, including co-heating tests (a whole-house heat loss test)
DRIVING STANDARDS
We are pushing for the right standards for building performance, including also fire. Working with fire safety and construction experts as well as industry colleagues within Fire Safe Europe, we are developing a better understanding of how changes to thermal regulations for buildings are impacting fire safety as well as how countries across Europe are responding.
We work with leading building scientists, architects, policy makers and the building chain to understand how to deliver buildings that actually perform as intended, to devise new insulation solutions and to define the regulatory tools needed to deliver such solutions in practice.

We joined forces with scientists and building physics experts to examine the energy efficient impact of insulation on renovated homes.
